About Ju-Ichi Japanese Restaurant

Ju-Ichi is a family-owned Japanese restaurant group with locations across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Our Montclair location serves fresh Sushi and Sashimi, specialty rolls, flavorful Ramen, Udon, Donburi, and other authentic Japanese favorites.

We believe the best advertisement is simple: good food, quality ingredients, and customers who want to come back. Many of our signature sauces are made in-house by our chef-owner, creating distinctive flavors you wonโ€™t find everywhere. Our signature Ramen and Udon broth is made with up to 100 lbs of pork bones, chicken bones, and 20+ carefully selected ingredients, then simmered for about 24 hours to create a rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying broth.

BYOB available.

Genuinely great food and affordable prices. Good service as well. My new go-to sushi & ramen spot

Had a great visit to this new Japanese restaurant. Vibes: The exterior is unassuming but once you walk in, you can tell the team out a lot of effort into the feel of the restaurant. It has great ambiance, more on the casual side but very modern. The restaurant both front and back by the bathroom was clean which is good indication of how they take pride in the presentation of the place. Food: we ordered a few items; gyozas, shishito peppers, sushi rolls, udon and tempura to try a little of each. Highlights were the shishito peppers with the yuzu salt cooked perfectly, udon broth was flavorful and had good depth of flavor not just salt and tempura was light and crispy and cooked through. The sushi roll was on the smaller side however the fish was very fresh so I did think it was a fair trade off. Value: overall pricing is on par with the other Montclair restaurants however we felt that the ambiance and quality of food made it a value and a place we can add to the rotation. Service: maybe because they just opened and still working out the kinks but we sat down and didnโ€™t get waters until we asked twice. They also missed the tempura dipping sauce and had to request. But overal

As someone who eats sushi regularly and loves exploring omakase, this place was such a pleasant surprise. Iโ€™ve already been twice in one week, and everything Iโ€™ve tried so far has been excellent. Their Daily Sushi is a must-try โ€” it feels like an affordable omakase experience, and honestly, I enjoyed it more than many local omakase spots. The ingredients are fresh, simple, and high-quality, with a very thoughtful and refined taste. This is not your typical neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Highly recommend for sushi and Japanese food lovers!

Poke salad, shichimi roll, and the daily sushi. All were great, but the nigiri in the daily sushi rocked our world. We were sad that it was only the daily and that we couldnโ€™t order it all the time. Each bite was better than the last. Service was lovely. Music was great (not too loud, fun selection). We canโ€™t wait to go back and try the ramen.

We used to go to Morristown one. After knowing thereโ€™s one in Montclair we are so happy coz the location is better than the Morristown one. Menu is basically the same. I ordered the usual premium daily selection sushi and never disappointed me. It takes quite awhile around half hour, probably itโ€™s still new so it takes time to run smoothly but once I saw the sushi I was in a great mood again. Totally forget about the long wait. Sushi is well made and fresh and with its topping differently. Ramen is same as usual. We didnโ€™t get to try many dishes this time, but will definitely come back more often since the vibe in this area is a lot better than in morristown.
